“LA Drum Guru” Walter Garces has a list of recording credits and students that reads like who’s who of the music and film world. A session drummer, educator and clinican, Walter teaches a full schedule of students while continuing to do studio and film work. Walter recently appeared as drummer and percussionist on the new Electric Prunes release “Feedback”. Walter is currently recording with fretless bassist Percy Jones and guitarist Dann Glenn on an upcoming CD, "Simple Harmonic Motion." He also played drums and percussion for Grammy award winner Neil Citron on the records “Guitar Dreams” and “Absolute”. His film work includes Tom Hanks' film "That Thing You Do".
His own comprehensive course of study includes latin, jazz, rock, 4-way coordination, left-hand development exercises and rigorous hand development, as well as independence on the drum set, mechanics, computers and electronics.
In addition to his accomplishments as a musician, Garces has honed his discipline and control by obtaining a black belt in Go-Ju-Ryu, and running marathons as often as possible.
Walter will be heading out on the road again in 2007 with the Electric Prunes.
