In the year 2000, Joe landed the drummer's throne for Max Cavalera's, Soulfly. Making his debut on the sophomore album "Primitive," his style proved to be the punishing drive behind the bands' unmistakable world metal sound. Now on Soulfly's Prophecy, Dark Ages, and newest release "Conquer," Nunez continues on.
Born in Chicago on June 18, 1975, his awareness for drumming became unstoppable at the age of twelve. Shortly after Joe graduated from Columbia College Chicago in 99,' Soulfly found themselves auditioning drummers for their second cd release. Within a short matter of time, Joe auditioned for the band and landed his musical career with Max Cavalera.
Several years later, Joe returned home to Chicago and joined Stripping the Pistol, a heavy-edge rock band in the Chicagoland area. He soon rejoined Soulfly again for their fourth release, Prophecy and found himself scaling down his drumset to the classic four piece set-up. Taking on the challenge of creating more with less, he continues to explore the possibilities not only with Soulfly, but also with his new group Slampede.
Now a member of the Premier family, Joe prepares for his latest run with Soulfly and is soon to be experimenting with electronic music and rhythms in the near future.
